Kajuyodo

Kajuyodo is a Complete Martial Arts System That Employs Self Defense, Mental Acuity, and Fitness Training.

Kajuyodo is pronounced “ka-ju-yo-do”, in one fluid word.

In addition to its Self Defense aspects, Kajuyodo offers many intangible benefits that carry over and can be applied to everyday life.  As a Kajuyodo Practitioner, you will receive all of the physical and mental benefits of training, while learning an Ancient and Proven Art of Self Defense that teaches how to protect yourself and your loved ones in real world situations.

Self Defense: Stopping armed and unarmed attackers

There are Three Key and Simple Training Strategies, and there are Three Key and Simple Self Defense Strategies. that will determine your success when it comes to defending yourself.

The Three Strategies for Training: Self Defense Training, Mental Acuity, and Fitness.

1) Your mental state and command over it
2) Your fitness level
3) Your training
All of these are things you can learn to develop so that you are prepared for any situation against any type of attacker or attackers.
Your Mental State, (Acuity) determines if have the presence of mind to control your fear so you can think with enough clarity to handle the situation.
Your Fitness Level determines if your body is conditioned is such a way that you can use it as a tool and a weapon, to defend yourself.
Your Self Defense Training is learning to do the right thing, at the right time, without thinking about what do. You must be able to act without thinking when unexpectedly attacked, because by the time you think about what to do, it’s too late.  Your training is what you learn in class, and how well you learn it.
You will learn the above Three Key Strategies of Self Defense Training when you learn Kajuyodo at the Honor Academy.

The Three Strategies to any successful Self Defense Technique:

1) Move from danger to a place of safety
2) Move into a position of advantage
3) Eliminate the threat
The above three, may be implemented like you would expect.  Something like, blocking an attack while getting close enough to your attacker so you can deliver a devastating punch, kick, or both.  However, it can also be knowing how to maneuver in a room when you would otherwise think you are trapped by your attackers, and maybe even escaping out the back door and driving away.  Same result, same strategy.  The point is that the formula for successful Self Defense is to move out of danger to safety, and into a position of advantage, and then to eliminate the threat.
It’s simple and it’s all you need; Three Strategies for Training, Three Strategies for Self Defense.  ANYONE Can learn to do this.

More details…

Kajuyodo Training: The Self Defense aspect of Kajuyodo teaches and trains you in defensive techniques and strategies for real world situations.
For adults that means how to defend against criminal attacks in the home, place of work, or street.  For children, it means defending themselves against bullies, gangs, abusers or abductors.
During the course of our training we use routines that build muscle memory so that in a real situation you will be able to “do the right thing” without having to think about it.  We also use training games to reinforce situational strategies and tactics.
All of our training is done in a way that it is safe for each student regardless of his or her age, or current fitness level.  Any preexisting conditions will be worked around and if possible, we will use the training to improve any preexisting limitations a student has.
Striking, blocking, avoiding, breaking free when someone grabs you, and learning to use a bigger or stronger opponent’s size and weight against them, are all part of the training.
Kajuyodo Fitness:  By its nature, Martial Arts Training with its blocks, kicks, punches, and many moves, builds strength, balance, flexibility and endurance.  However, an additional and unique benefit of Kajuyodo is that, while many Martial Arts have lost their roots in wellness, and in the extreme benefits of yoga, often in the Martial Arts called Chinese Yoga, or Japanese Yoga, Kajuyodo has reintegrated these valuable yogic exercises.  Yoga was inseparable from Martial Arts at the time of its origin; see Martial Arts History & Tradition for more details.  These exercises increase flexibility quickly, and help to activate the endocrine system which among others things, balance hormones, help you to sleep better and balance the metabolism, which is vital if you want to attain a healthy weight and overall high level of fitness.  These practices also help to rid the body of toxins and much more.
Kajuyodo and Mental Acuity:  The proper Mental State is paramount if you are to defend yourself successfully.  This holds true for the challenges of life as well.  Doubt, fear, confusion, lack of clarity as to what to do or how and when to act, are all things that, regardless of your Fitness Level and Martial Arts Training, will cause you to defeat yourself when confronted by an attacker.  Defeat yourself beforehand, and others will then defeat you.
Part of Kajuyodo training is help students develop a mindset that will work in times of extreme stress, like when being attacked.  We use Training Games to explore the proper strategies and mindsets that differ when you consider the different scenarios you could find yourself in.  A few of these scenarios include the differences when attacked by one person, two or more.  When attacked in your home or outside.  When protecting not only yourself, but also another, and if your attackers are yielding weapons, such as knives, guns or clubs.
It is true that the solutions to all problems are simple. Such as our three training strategies and three self defense strategies.  However, implementing simple solutions is not always simple.  At The Honor Academy we are dedicated to working with you to help you use Kajuyodo as a tool to not only help you to see the solutions to problems as simple, but also to helping you develop the tools so that you may implement those solutions with greater ease and less stress.
Self Defense training helps you overcome the fear of attack, which helps you to overcome fear in general, which is the root of most if our problems.
